The best thing about our club is the people, always friendly and willing to help each other . There is a good social side to the club too. We offer a great variety of paddling to all different levels of paddlers.
I joined the club about 12 years ago after discovering bell boating and wanted to learn to kayak. The club has taught me a lot and when feeling a little nervous on the water or out of my comfort zone the coaches are always super supportive. Always end up smiling and achieving a little more
Age is not a barrier to having fun. We are newcomers to the sport but are learning new skills each month. There is a variety of paddles with an army of people to help and advise us. A very friendly, social bunch who make a mean sausage bap!

Why did you join the Club?
Best thing about the club: very welcoming and supportive members with a variety of weekly venues and other trips Would recommend WKCC because: all ages and abilities encouraged to take part and the promotion of safe kayaking How helped: helped massively with overcoming personal fears on and in the water with no pressure enabling me to progress at my own pace Why joined: advised to be part of a group as solo kayaking not recommended. Best thing ever joining WKCC
What's the best thing about the Club?
The people are the best bit. Friendly, welcoming, and encouraging with a wide range of interests canoe / kayak wise
Why would you recommend the Club to others?
It is a brilliant way to meet other paddlers. It gives you the opportunity to improve your paddling and there are club nights, trips and social meet ups available throughout the year
How has the Club helped you as a paddler?
Having a weekly club meet has helped me kayak more regularly. After a busy day at work you sometimes can’t be bothered- but you know you are going to miss out on a good paddle and chance for a chat if you don’t get off the sofa! Pool sessions have been brilliant - hugely helpful with my roll
Why did you join the Club?
I joined to meet people locally to paddle with and learn from - the club has certainly delivered
A friendly group of people who are happy to welcome all ages, including OAPs, such as ourselves, and all skill levels, including total novices. A great club to meet new people and be active
What's the best thing about the Club? Paddling & Social
Why would you recommend the Club to others? A great bunch of people that have helped develop my paddling from a long time ago
How has the Club helped you as a paddler? Everyone, everyone adds something to mix, providing the opportunity to paddle and have a lot of fun.
Why did you join the Club? I wanted to try kayaking, that was the summer of 1987, I think I have got the hang of things now (lol)
Having moved to the area I decided to try an activity I only briefly tried in the past as a way of getting active, meeting people and learning a new skill.
The club achieved all of these but what I didn’t anticipate was how well organised it is, variety of trips and great company. From international white water centre in Wales to Scottish river running and local pub paddles and winter swimming pool training.
Would recommend to anyone of all ages and abilities. You’ll be surprised when calm how long you can hold your breath under water it’s not that scary
